The Division of Fine Arts of Maryville College will present the Trillium Piano Trio. The event is free and open to the public. Founded in January 2014, Trillium, an ensemble of strings and piano, has engaged numerous audiences with its expressive interpretations at the heart of the piano trio literature, in addition to performances of quartets and quintets. The members of the trio are Alison Maerker Garner, violin; Alicia Randisi-Hooker, cello, adjunct faculty, Maryville College; and Robert Bonham, piano, Professor Emeritus, Maryville College.
MC alumnus John Wesley Wright ’87, tenor, will be a guest soloist during the concert. Wright is the coordinator of the voice and opera workshop programs at Salisbury University in Salisbury, Md., and co-director of the Broadway program at the Maryland Summer Center for the Arts. He is an active clinician, consultant and leader of workshops on voice production, song interpretation and African American song tradition. He is known for his artistic and soulful interpretations of music from baroque to Broadway. Holding degrees from Maryville College and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, his diversity as an artist has afforded him nationally televised concerts for the Belgian Royal Family (Brussels, Belgium) and the Kennedy clan (New Ross, Ireland), as well as tours as a soloist and with professional ensembles throughout the United States, Europe and Japan. While at Maryville College, he sang with the Maryville College Concert Choir, appeared in several theatre productions and danced with the Appalachian Ballet Company. He is a recipient of the 2007 Distinguished Choir Alumni Award.
