Light from Light, an Independent film, filmed in Knoxville, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
Stars Jim Gaffigan and Marin Ireland
Shelia, a single mom and sometime paranormal investigator, investigates a possible “haunting” at a widower’s farmhouse in East Tennessee. As a result, after failing at investigating on her own, Shelia enlists Owen, her underachieving teenage son, and one of his classmates, a bright girl named Lucy to help. Together, Shelia, the widower, and the two teens attempt to understand the mystery.
“Acted with soulful feeling by a fine cast led by Marin Ireland and Jim Gaffigan, writer-director Paul Harrill’s second feature is constructed around a paranormal investigation but is really more interested in the internal forces haunting its four principal characters. Modest in scale but rich in sensitivity, this is an unassuming film, made all the more transfixing by its defining delicacy and understatement.” – David Rooney, The Hollywood Reporter
“A movie of great intimacy and mystery, Light From Light is a remarkable achievement.” – C. Mason Wells, Film Comment
